Ledger Login — Connect & Unlock Ledger Live
Clear, trusted steps to connect your Ledger device (Nano X, Nano S Plus) and safely access Ledger Live.
What “Ledger Login” Means
Ledger does not use email/password accounts. “Logging in” to Ledger Live means connecting your Ledger hardware wallet and unlocking it with your PIN. The device itself is the authentication token: private keys remain on the hardware and all sensitive actions require on-device confirmation.
Step-by-step: Connect & Unlock
- Download Ledger Live: Get the official app from
ledger.com/ledger-live
and install it on desktop or mobile. - Open Ledger Live: Launch the app and choose your device type when prompted.
- Connect your device: Plug in the Ledger with the official USB cable (or use Bluetooth for Nano X mobile).
- Enter PIN on-device: Type your PIN directly on the Ledger device to unlock it — never type the PIN into your computer or phone.
- Allow access: Accept any prompts on the device to expose account information to Ledger Live; the app will then display your accounts and balances.
Security Essentials
Critical: Ledger (or legitimate support) will never ask for your 24-word recovery phrase. Never enter it into Ledger Live, a website, or share it.
- Always download Ledger Live from the official Ledger domain.
- Confirm addresses and amounts on your device screen before approving any transaction.
- Use a strong PIN and consider enabling an optional passphrase (hidden wallet) for extra protection.
- Store your recovery phrase offline (paper or metal) — never digitally.
Common Login Problems & Fixes
- Device not detected: Try the original USB cable, different port, or reboot the host device. Reinstall Ledger Live if needed.
- Bluetooth pairing (Nano X): Remove old pairings, toggle Bluetooth, and re-pair inside the Ledger Live mobile app.
- App/firmware mismatch: Update Ledger Live first, then follow on-device prompts to update firmware.
- Forgot PIN: Resetting the device is required (it erases local keys). Recover using your 24-word phrase on a restored device.
Advanced Options & Tips
For extra security on large holdings consider using a passphrase to create hidden accounts, split seed backups, and keep a tested backup device for recovery drills. On desktop, enable OS-level security (full-disk encryption) and avoid using Ledger Live on untrusted or public computers.
